While designing floral installations, she started incorporating fabric elements—subtle at first, then more and more over time.
It didn’t take long to realize that draping had a unique impact. While flowers added beauty, draping had the ability to completely reshape a space. As both sides of the business grew, Kim made a pivotal decision—selling the floral side to a longtime employee and focusing fully on what had become her true passion.
Today, Draping by Kim specializes in custom fabric installations and lighting design, helping couples and planners transform venues into elevated, immersive environments.
From soft, romantic swags to dramatic ceiling treatments, each design is tailored to enhance the natural beauty of the space. With over 17 years in the industry and thousands of weddings behind her, Kim brings a depth of experience that is both rare and invaluable.
Her background in floral and environmental design, combined with formal training and a degree in Agricultural Business and Marketing, allows her to approach each project with both creativity and precision.
But what truly sets her apart is her ability to problem-solve through design. An unfinished wall becomes a focal point. Harsh lighting is softened. Sound is absorbed. Through a deep understanding of how fabric functions—not just how it looks—Kim and her team create solutions that are as practical as they are beautiful. She still looks forward to seeing the final professional images—watching every design element come together exactly as envisioned. Outside of events, Kim enjoys hiking with her dog Jade, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
